COOPERATIVE
Established in 2009, FESICH (Federación de Esfuerzos Silvestres y Cafetaleros) represents more than 3,300 smallholder producers across five indigenous and ecological cooperatives in Chiapas. The farms are situated near the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, a highly biodiverse cloud forest where the cool, humid climate yields exceptional Arabica coffee with a unique flavour profile.
Driven by a commitment to sustainability, FESICH promotes organic farming, agroforestry, and soil health. The federation empowers its members through comprehensive training in cultivation and logistics while fostering climate resilience and gender equity via specialized women's programs and the distribution of over two million rust-resistant seedlings. Quality is maintained through rigorous post-harvest standards: only perfectly ripe cherries are harvested, followed by a 12- to 18-hour fermentation, a full wash, and traditional patio sun-drying to ensure a clean and consistent cup.
