COOPERATIVE
Grown in the highlands of Timor-Leste (East Timor), this organic coffee comes from Cooperativa Café Timor (CCT), a cooperative established in 1994 that supports more than 20,000 small-scale farming families across the Ainaro, Ermera and Liquiçá districts. Coffee has deep roots here, first introduced over 400 years ago during Portuguese colonisation. Production later recovered with the introduction of the resilient Híbrido de Timor varietal, now an important part of the region’s coffee heritage.
Coffee is grown in fertile volcanic soils and cool highland conditions ideal for specialty Arabica production, with cherries carefully hand-sorted to ensure quality and consistency. Beyond coffee, CCT invests heavily in local communities through healthcare, farmer training and social programs. Today, it operates clinics and mobile health services that have provided more than two million consultations, supporting farmers and their families across rural Timor-Leste.
Every cup reflects not only the region’s rich coffee history and craftsmanship, but also a commitment to sustainable livelihoods and community well-being.
