To improve the livelihoods of Ugandan coffee farmers, Kawacom Uganda Ltd. and USAID partnered in 2023 on the Uganda Smallholder Farmer Livelihoods Initiative. The project addressed common issues such as low crop quality and poor market access by helping over 10,800 farmers secure Organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications and connect to export markets. As a result, the initiative successfully increased coffee quality, export volumes, and farmer income, by providing farmers with better market access and support for sustainable farming practices.
